DESCRIPTION: The 5K & 10K (3.1 & 6.2 mi) walk starts anytime between 8:30-9:00 on routes which are tree lined walks around Maitland, around lakes, and through residential areas. Restrooms are available at Walgreens, Lake Sybelia Park, Jackson Park, and Lake Lily Park. It passes the historical Waterhouse Residence (Thu-Sun, 12 - 4 p.m.) & the Maitland Art Center (T-Su 11am-4p.m). Restrooms at the start and Jackson Park. Leashed pets are allowed. DIRECTIONS: To 330 S. Orlando Ave. from Orlando take I-4E to Exit 90A, Maitland Blvd. and exit right (From Daytona use Exit 90 and turn left) to the second light, Maitland Ave. Turn right, go 1.3 miles to Packwood Ave. (1 block past the light at Horatio Ave.). DESCRIPTION: These 5 and 10K walks start anytime between 9:00 and 11:00 and are within Bok Tower Gardens, home of fantastic gardens, shaded and open paths, and in full bloom in February. You will see fantastic flowers, unique trees, and substantial changes since you were there last. The 1 and 3 PM carillon concerts will amaze you. Entrance fee per person at group rate is $10 after 9 am and between 8-9am $6/person. Start point will be signed by "Walk Start" signs. Bok Tower Gardens is on the peninsula ridge at some 290 feet above sea level. The Singing Tower stands another 205 feet from the gardens highest point. This is the walk you want to break your speed record for the slowest walk done. Walk in the gardens, the Preserve Trail, and among the grounds. Pets are not allowed. DIRECTIONS: Bok Tower Gardens is at 1151 Tower Blvd, Lake Wales. From Orlando, Use I4W and take exit 55, Haines City. Exit right to Hinson Rd. (past Southern Dunes). Turn left on US 17N (Hinson Rd.). Turn right on FL17S and pass thru Lake Hamilton and Dundee to Lake Wales. Turn left on Burns Ave. to Bok Tower entrance road on left. Alternatively, just follow US 27 to Mountain Pass Rd. & turn left. Turn right on FL 17. Turn left on Burns Ave. to Bok Tower entrance road on left. From Tampa use I275N to I4E to exit 27, FL 570 (toll), to right on US 98 to left on FL60E. Enter Lake Wales and bear left at "To US 17" sign (opposite Lake Wales Family Restaurant). Continue on Polk Ave to FL 17 (Scenic Hwy/5th St). Turn left on FL 17 (Scenic Hwy/5th St). Turn right on Burns Ave. to Bok Tower entrance road on left. GPS: 27.9177262,-81.5681258.

The walk weaves by different areas including homes, wetlands, parks, lakes and businesses. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish; walk during daylight hours. DIRECTIONS: To Starbuck's Coffee at 715 Bloom St., Kissimmee, from Tampa on I-4E take Exit 64, Kissimmee, right to Celebration Ave. From Daytona/Orlando on I4W take Exit 64, bear left to Kissimmee exit onto US 192E to Celebration Ave. Turn right on Celebration Ave. From Kissimmee on US 192W turn left on Celebration Ave. From Cocoa & east Orlando on SR 417S take exit 2, Celebration Ave. and turn left. 19 March 2016 VA Medical Center, Lake Nona

DESCRIPTION: The 5 and 10K walks start anytime between 8:30-10:00 at the VA Hospital. The "Medical City" facilities and nearby residential areas are on the route of the walks. The UCF Med school, the Burnham Sanford Research Center, UF Dental School, and near by Nemours Pediatric Hospital have all been started here in the last 5 years. New areas remain under construction. A nice walk in this unique Orlando area. Pets are not recommended. Strollers and wheelchairs welcomed. Event # 104390. Trail rated 1A. Please carry water. DIRECTIONS: The start is at Lake Nona Orlando VA Medical Center, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando. From Celebration or east Orlando us FL 417S/N to Exit 19. Turn left (right from the south) on Lake Nona Blvd to Veterans Way. Turn left and follow Veterans Way through the main gate. You must show an ID card (license). Turn right then left into the garage. Park on level 1 (if you go to 1A, take the elevator to level 1). From west Orlando use I-4 to FL528E. Take exit 14 International Airport and proceed thru the airport and use the south exit to FL417. Turn left on FL 417E to exit 19, Medical City. Turn right on Lake Nona Blvd to Veterans Way. Turn left and follow Veterans Way through the main gate. You must show an ID card (license). Turn right then left into the garage. Park on level 1 (if you go to 1A, take the elevator to level 1). Note: registration is inside near the info desk. DESCRIPTION: The 6K & 10K (3.7/6.2 mi) walks start between 8:30-9:00 and are in areas near and in Disney Springs in Lake Buena Vista. Lake Buena Vista encompasses the eastern side of Walt Disney World. The walk takes you by nearby hotels and shops and the new Disney Spring development. Enjoy dining, shopping, browsing, and strolling through this updated venue. The walk is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Pets are not allowed. Please carry water. Trail Ratings: 1A. DESCRIPTION: The 5 and 10K walks and 27K bike event start anytime between 8:30- 11:00 at the Chapin Station pavilion. The walk and bike events are concurrent. If enjoying both, we suggest biking first. Bike west on the West Orange Tr. Walk is into Winter Garden residential areas, along Lake Apopka and back on the trail. Lunch at the pavilion is available for a small fee after 11 am; please sign up for lunch at our web site. Pets are allowed. Strollers and wheelchairs welcomed. Trail rated 1A. Please carry water. DIRECTIONS: From Orlando to Chapin Station at 501 Crown Point Cross Rd, Winter Garden from Orlando take SR408W to Turnpike. Exit right towards Ocala and exit on SR429N (#267). Take exit 24, Winter Garden, Plant St. Turn left on Plant St. Turn right on West Crown Point. Turn left on Crown Point Cross Rd. to Park.

From Wildwood on Turnpike use exit 267, SR429N. Take exit 24 Winter Garden, Plant St. Turn left on Plant St. Turn right on West Crown Point. Turn left on Crown Point Cross Rd. to Park.

From Tampa on I4E use exit 60, SR429N, to exit 24, Winter Garden, Plant St. Turn left on Plant St. Turn right on West Crown Point. Turn left on Crown Point Cross Rd. to Park.

From SR50 drive to Winter Garden. Turn north on Dillard Street to Plant St. Turn right on Plant St. and continue to West Crown Point Rd. Turn left on West Crown Point Rd. Turn left on Crown Point Cross Rd. to Park.

From Daytona/Seminole County use I-4 to SR 436W (exit 92) to Apopka, to SR 441W to SR 451S (toll) to SR 429S exit 24, Winter Garden, Plant St. Turn right on Plant St. Turn right on W. Crown Point Rd. Turn left on Cross Point Crown Rd. to Park.

30 April 2016 Hontoon Island State Park, DeLand

DESCRIPTION: The 5K & 10K (3.1/6.2 mi) shaded walks start between 9-10 am and are in the State Park. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on this St. Johns River Island. The local clubs will place posts for FVA trail signs - and volunteers are needed (a sign up form is on the MFM web site). The Trail is not suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. DIRECTIONS: To the Park parking lot at 2309 River Ridge Rd. from Orlando on I4E take exit 114, turn left on SR472W, and exit right onto US 17-92. Turn left on SR15 Alt. Turn left on W Beresford Ave. Turn right on S. Beresford Rd. Turn left on Old New York Ave. Turn left on Hontoon Rd. (CR 4125) for 3.4 miles. From Daytona/Port Orange from SR44 & I4 (exit 118) drive west about 7 miles thru DeLand; bear left on Old New York Ave (CR 4110) for 1.9 miles; left on Hontoon Rd. (CR 4125) for 3.4 miles. Turn left into the Hontoon Island State Park parking lot and walk to the nearby boat dock. The ferry will come for you.
