DESCRIPTION: 14 Jan walk at Blue Springs State Park. Arrive Early, as parking is limited!! Pay fee at park entrance then drive to the last parking lot and look for our table & IVV banner. This is the largest spring on the St Johns River and is a designated Manatee Refuge during the winter, home to a growing population of the West Indian Manatee. Walk on paved park road, unpaved campground road, service road and hiking trails. Not suitable for strollers / wheelchairs. 15 Jan walk at DeLeon Springs State Park. Pay fee at park entrance and drive to parking area. Register at small pavilion (look for IVV Banner) and enjoy this Florida State Park with natural hot springs and a beautiful wooded trail 4.5 mile loop, including ancient trees and historic sites. Wear appropriate footwear for a nature trail and there may be some mud on trail depending on rain the week leading up. 16 Jan walk in DeLand. Registration in the Comfort Inn meeting room. Join us for a pleasant Martin Luther King Day walk in the historic town of DeLand, FL. Trail includes the campus of Stetson University plus parks and beautiful murals in downtown DeLand. A parade will be going on mid-morning and your route will take you nearby if you want to view it. DESCRIPTION: Note the short 30 minute start window Between - 8:30-9:00 am. The 6 & 11 km walks begin at the 75 acre Blue Jacket Park near Lake Baldwin. Walk in the residential areas around the park and part of the park. The 11K finishes by walking around Lake Baldwin. Leashed pets are allowed. Wheelchairs and strollers are accommodated. DIRECTIONS: To Blue Jacket Park at 2501 General Reese from east or west Orlando use SR50 or SR 408 (toll). Turn left (from SR50E/SR408E) on Bumby Ave. Continue to Virginia Ave. Turn right on Virginia curving left, then right onto Corrine. Turn left on General Reese for 0.6 miles to start on right in parking lot. From Sanford use I4W to Lee Rd. Take exit 88 & turn left. DESCRIPTION: The Center opens at 9am. The 5 and 10K walk registration is between 9:00-9:30am. Walk instructions have info on homes and buildings on the walk routes. You will walk on downtown and/or residential areas south of town. See historic downtown Orlando, new Arts Center, art projects, Lake Eola, and the County Courthouse. The large fountain in Lake Eola, constructed in 1957 and completely refurbished in 2011 provides a nightly light show with music. Pets are allowed. Please carry water. Trail Ratings: 1A. DESCRIPTION: Six walks on or near the sugar white sands around the Panama City Beach area, one Friday, two Saturday, two Sunday and one Monday PLUS nearby YREs The headquarters for the walks is the Hampton Inn in Panama City Beach. DESCRIPTION: Register between 8:30 - 10:00 am and walk 5K and 10K routes with the Mid Florida Milers in the town of Oakland starting in the Nature Preserve, its wilderness paths, and its museum. The preserve's beautiful 128 acres make use of a 2/3-mile boardwalk leading through natural wetlands to a covered pavilion on Lake Apopka. There are also numerous hiking trails leading through the oak and pine forests, habitat gardens and a gorgeous, sustainable built visitor center - complete with a microscope laboratory, live animal exhibits, and a cultural/natural history museum. The 10K walk continues downtown past City Hall and on the West Orange Trail, and in residential areas of the city. The event takes place regardless of weather conditions. Wheelchairs and strollers are difficult in the woods but acceptable. Restrooms are available at the start but not in Oakland. Pets are not allowed in the preserve. DIRECTIONS: Address - 747 Machette Trl, Oakland, Florida. From I-4N/S use exit 82 to SR 408W. Follow it to the Turnpike toward Ocala. Take exit 272 (Clermont/Winter Garden) to FL-50. Turn right on SR 50 for a 0.6 miles. Turn left at the light at Tubbs (West Orange Lumber). Turn left onto Oakland Ave. for 0.5 miles and then right to 747 Machette Trl. to the Nature Preserve. From SR 429, use exit 24 and turn right from Apopka (left from the turnpike) on Plant St. Follow it for 5.1 miles thru Winter Garden and Oakland to Machette Trl. Turn right to Nature Preserve.
