DESCRIPTION: Bring your family and friends and walk together at your pace. Register and begin the 5 km or 10km walk anytime between 8:30 and 10:00; complete the walk by 1:00 pm. The route in Oviedo/Winter Springs is on parts of the Cross Seminole Trail and on sidewalks passing through many nice neighborhoods that are partly shaded. DIRECTIONS: To the Black Hammock Trailhead at 1571 E. State Road 434, Winter Springs, from Orlando use I-4E/I-4W to SR 434, exit 94, Winter Springs/Longwood. Turn right on SR 434 Rd. From Deland turn left. Go 10 miles to trailhead just before SR 417 overpass. From Orlando or Sanford use any road to SR 417N/417S (Greeneway) and take exit 44. 31 October to 2 November 2014 - Walk Around Florida, Cocoa Beach
Walk Around Florida 24, hosted by The Happy Wanderers, is Oct 31 to Nov 2. Four walks, lunches, a dinner, and fun on the Cocoa Beach shore. Walks are in Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Cocoa. Registration is at the International Palms Resort, Cocoa Beach, from 2-4pm on Oct 31 for the event and Cocoa Beach Walk. The Resort offers a "Walk Around Florida" rate of $80 by calling the hotel. Preregistration is required for the 2 lunches, a breakfast, and a dinner and award (30 available) postmarked by October 22.

31 October Cocoa Beach Walk: 2-4p.m. International Palms Resort

DESCRIPTION: Event and walk registration is between 2-4 p.m. and finish before dark. This is a 5km or 10 km walk (3.1 & 6.2 mi) along Cocoa Beach and nearby residences. Enjoy a hosted walk of the Cocoa Beach YRE, starting from the hotel, between 2-4 p.m.; complete walk by 7 p.m. (sunset). Cocoa Beach is known for its beautiful beach and superb views of the Atlantic Ocean. Route highlights are the Johnnie Johnson nature trail and an impressive river front residential area. DESCRIPTION: Sunrise Breakfast, morning walk and lunch (preregistration needed for breakfast & lunch). Start between 8-10 a.m. and finish by 1 p.m. This is a 5 km or 10 km walk (3.1 & 6.2 mi) morning walk starting at Howard E. Futch Memorial Park at Paradise Beach. On site registration will be at large pavilion. Walk route will include sandy beach (low tide at 9:16 a.m.), beautifully landscaped homes, and a waterway. You will be in the communities of both Melbourne and Indialantic. Walk is not suitable for wheelchair/stroller. Please carry water. Trail Ratings: 1C. DIRECTIONS: The start is at Howard E. Futch Memorial Park, at Paradise Beach. The park is located at 2301 N. Florida Highway A1A, Melbourne. From International Palms: exit left (south) onto A1A. Drive 15 miles (allow 30 minutes) to the park on the left. BE ATTENTIVE TO SPEED LIMITS.

1 November PM - Turkey Creek Sanctuary, Noon to 2 p.m.; finish by 5 p.m.

DESCRIPTION: On site registration and the walk start will be at the nature center. Walk start time is Noon to 2 p.m.; finish by 5 p.m. Route will be on boardwalks and dirt paths through pines, oaks, and native Florida scrub vegetation. Area is designated as Environmentally Endangered Land. Part of route is along Turkey Creek which is home to several varieties of birds and clearly visible fish. From Howard Futch Park (about 15 miles distance; allow 40 min): exit park and turn right. Turn left on E. Eau Gallie Blvd. and cross the Intracoastal. Turn left on US 1. N. Harbor City Blvd. Continue for 8.2 miles to Port Malabar Blvd. Turn right on Port Malabar Blvd. at the first traffic light after crossing Turkey Creek. Continue 1.9 miles to the sanctuary, library, and community center*.

Turkey Creek Sanctuary to International Palms Resort. (Nov 1 dinner). Distance is 28 miles; allow 45-60 minutes. From Sanctuary: turn right on Port Malabar Blvd. to US 1. Turn left on US 1. After 4.3 miles, turn right on US 192, crossing the Intracoastal Waterway. Turn left on A1A for 17 miles to resort.
1 November Evening - Dinner at International Palms Resort
Everyone is encouraged to meet at the Dolphin Room in the registration building at 6:30 p.m. for some social mingling. The hotel staff is serving a buffet dinner at 7:15 p.m. with salad, London Broil Beef and Champagne Chicken entrÃ©es, vegetables, potato, carrot cake, and beverages (preregistration needed for dinner. NOTE: Deadline for dinner count is Oct 27; after that we cannot take dinner cancellations). There is a cash only bar available. The resort will accommodate dietary issues and requests they be provided by 26 October. Send email with any dietary issues to both email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
2 November AM - Lee Wenner Park, 9-10 a.m.

DESCRIPTION: The morning walk and lunch (preregistration needed for lunch) registration start is at the Pavilion. This final walk will be in the historic Cocoa Village. Walk start time is 9-10 a.m. Lunch is from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. From Lee Wenner Park, with a spectacular view across the Indian River, you will pass through downtown Cocoa including historic Cocoa Village, into a bit of residential area, and return along the river boardwalk along the Indian River. Cocoa Village has more than 60 shops, galleries, and antique malls. Walk is rated 1A and is suitable for strollers/wheelchairs. DIRECTIONS: The park is located at 300 Riveredge Blvd., Cocoa, FL.
From International Palms (about 9 miles; allow 20 minutes): exit right from hotel (north) onto A1A. Drive 2 miles to FL 520W. Turn left on FL 520W for 7 miles to Riveredge Dr. (first left after bridge across Indian River). Move to left lane while on bridge. Turn left on Riveredge Dr. Cross FL 520E and move to left lane. Turn left into park and follow signs to start pavilion.
From I-95S: use exit 201 onto SR 520 to Cocoa. Turn left; continue on SR 520 for 4.5 miles to Riveredge Dr. (last right before bridge across Indian River). Turn right on Riveredge Dr. and move to left lane. Turn left into park; follow signs to start pavilion. Please do not park in trailer slots.
15 November - Hontoon Island, 9-9:30 a.m; bring your picnic lunch

DESCRIPTION: The walk is a 5km and 10km walk route on park trails that are 40% shaded. The hills on the nature trail are shell mounds left from the Park's first inhabitants, the Timucuan. Walk registration will be on the island. Arrive early enough to take the ferry across the St Johns river. The island is accessible only by private boat or free park ferry. Pets are not allowed in campgrounds. Trail is rated 2B and is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Coolers available to keep that special lunch cool for the picnic. DIRECTIONS: 2309 River Ridge Rd. Deland. From I-4E or I-4W take exit 118; SR 44 west about 7 miles thru DeLand; bear left on CR 4110 for 1.9 miles; left on CR 4125 for 3.4 miles. Turn left into the Hontoon Island State Park parking lot. Walk to the nearby boat dock. The ferry will come for you as soon as the captain sees you waiting. After exiting the ferryboat, MFM will have the registration at a table. There is no fee for either the short ferry ride, or for entry into the state park. DESCRIPTION: The evening walk is a guided walk of a 5 km walk route of the Winter Park YRE. The walk will be during the display of Tiffany glass sculptures and the Bach choir performance. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the season and the art of two organizations. Trail is rated 1A and is while difficult strollers or wheelchairs can be accommodated. You must bring a flashlight. DIRECTIONS: Morse Park is adjacent to the Winter Park Golf Club (761 Old England Ave. Winter Park) off Interlachen. The routes attempt to miss traffic at Central Park. From Orlando on I-4E or I-4W take exit 88, Fairbanks Ave. Continue on Fairbanks to New York Ave. Turn left to Webster. Turn right to the golf course. Turn right on Old England and into golf course parking lot. Drive to Morse Park at rear of the lot. From east Orlando on Semoran turn toward Winter Park on SR 426W, Aloma Ave. Enter Winter Park and turn right on Lakemont. Turn left on Palmer. Turn left on Old England. The walks weave by different areas of the homes, schools, wetlands, parks, and businesses. Restrooms are available at the Start/Finish only. Wheelchairs and strollers acceptable. 13 December, Guided Walk at Winter Park's Mead Garden Celebration

DESCRIPTION: Registration at the Mead Garden Pavilion is from 9:30 to 10:05. This is a walk at a unique time. The 5 and 10 km walks will start exactly at 10:11 a.m. on the 12th month, 13th day and 14th year of the 21st century.
Or 10:11 12/13/14.
The walk award is a Tee Shirt and a commemorative patch are available by only by preregistration. Get the linked preregistration flyer. At least 30 states' clubs are participating at the same time.
The walk starts at 10:11. Finish by 1:00. Some light snacks will await you. Wheelchairs and strollers acceptable. Though some streets have no sidewalk and are bricked. DESCRIPTION: This is the 20th year we have held a New Years Day walk in Lake Buena Vista. The fun and color of the season all make it a great way to start the New Year. This year we start at a new brewery that is part of the company that departed Winter Park. After the walk join MFM and dine from the menu and enjoy Sea Dog food.
