Mid-Florida Milers Traditional Events
Traditional Events are walking events with designated start time ranges. Don't worry though...you still walk them at your own pace!
Walk Around Florida XXVI : visits Tampa for some historic walks and social fun. Tampa Trails and Havana Nights is the theme for the WAF XXVI inspired by not only Tampa's long-time ties with Cuba but by the recent dramatically changing policies with that country. Dramatic change came to Tampa in the 1880s, when developer Henry Plant's steamship lines, railroads, and grand hotel made possible a cigar making industry, phosphate mining, and tourism. The city experienced spectacular growth. Despite lulls and downturns since then, Tampa has continued to develop and has even undergone a recent urban renaissance. Walk Around Florida XXVI takes place from November 4-6 from the Barrymore Hotel, Tampa. Reservations at the hotel are $109 asking for the Walk Around Florida rate. Social festivities have a Caribbean flair, including a Cuban inspired Saturday evening dinner at the hotel for $25. Four walks and a 26.2 mile challenge await your visit. Preregistration is required for social activities. The Brochure is available on the web site.
